Dr. Winnie Su is a board-certified nephrologist who received her undergraduate and medical education from several of the top universities and medical schools in Canada. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from University of Toronto followed by Doctor of Medicine Degree from Queen’s University. She was awarded several honors and scholarships for academic achievement from both universities. Dr. Su went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at University of British Columbia and Nephrology Fellowship at McMaster University. After graduation, she remained at McMaster University for 3 more years as a Clinical Scholar to further develop clinical and research expertise in the fields of nephrology and dialysis and published several scientific papers in major nephrology journals.
After relocating to Buffalo with her family in 2012, Dr. Su joined the University of Buffalo as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and as attending nephrologist at Erie County Medical Center. She has been caring for patients with a broad range of kidney conditions including acute and chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease needing dialysis or transplantation, inherited kidney disorders, glomerular diseases, electrolyte disorders, and resistant hypertension.
Dr. Su has also been very active in the education of medical students, residents and future nephrologists. She served as the Nephrology Fellowship Training Program Director at UB from 2015-2018 and was responsible for overseeing the education of physicians training to become nephrologists. She also served in several other leadership roles including as the medical director of the Clevehill Dialysis Center and the Home Dialysis Program at Erie County Medical Center. In recent years, Dr. Su has been recognized as a top doctor by Castle Connolly and Buffalo Spree.
Dr. Su is excited to join Nephrology Associates of WNY in 2018 and is looking forward to continuing to serve the kidney patients of Western New York.
